Mechanics of Materials is a basic engineering subject that, along with statics, must be understood by anyone concerned with the strength and physical performance of structures, whether those structures are man-made or natural, such as bridges, airplanes, buildings, automobiles, tunnels, pipelines, machines and many other load-carrying structures. The breadth of this field is enormous. Regarding these applications, a safe and successful design should address three main criteria. That is strength, stiffness and stability. This course is required for most students majoring in mechanical, structural, civil, biomedical, petroleum, nuclear, materials science, industrial engineering, aeronautical and aerospace engineering. This course provides a clear, comprehensive presentation of both the theory and applications of mechanics of materials. The textbook used in this course is the one written by Barry Goodno and James Gere. Hope you enjoy this course.
