本课程是比较教育专业留学生的核心课程。课程通过带领学生学习比较教育的发展历史，了解掌握比较教育的基本理论，在介绍中国及其它国家教育发展历史过程所发展和践行的不同理论和实践，增加学生对中国教育及其它国家教育的了解，并在学习的基础上增加对中国的认同；同时，在借鉴相关经验的基础上能够分析自己所在国家教育某一领域的挑战和问题并提出对策。
This course is designed for students in international comparative education program. With 3 credits hours, this course introduces the foundational and theoretical aspects of international comparative education history and explores education from a global and comparative perspective. Topics include historical development, definitions and purposes, current theories, practices and issues of international and comparative education, issues and practices of child development, female roles, governmental and non-governmental roles, the history of higher education development, the impact of globalization, technology, economic development, history, and cultural dimensions as applied to certain educational arenas within the international and comparative education contexts.
